Jeremy Pelt LIVE at Jazz Standard

March 4, 2012

Jeremy Pelt is an up-and-coming firebrand in the tradition of Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. A California native, Pelt first began playing the trumpet in elementary school, focusing on classical studies. However, it was not until joining his high school jazz band that he became strongly interested in changing directions and pursuing jazz full-time.
Now one of the most talked about trumpeters of the past decade, Los Angeles native and New York resident Pelt burst onto the jazz scene in New York in 1998. Armed with dual degrees from Berklee College of Music in jazz performance and film scoring, it was not long before his talents were recognized and he played his first professional gig with the Mingus Big Band. That gig led to many long-lasting associations with members in the band, and provided a great opportunity for growth. Pelt quickly became a first-call musician and his efforts earned him an extensive feature article by legendary journalist and producer, Nat Hentoff in the Wall Street Journal.
Jeremy Pelt will appear at Jazz Standard this Tuesday March 6th and Wednesday March 7th with a few friends, namely, Stacy Dillard on Sax, Danny Grissett on Piano, Dwayne Burno on Bass, Jonathan Barber on Drums. Be there or be square…
