The Nikolaj Hess Trio LIVE at Cornelia Street!

Nikolaj Hess won the gold prize in the “Berlingske Tidendes” competition of non-classical music in Copenhagen and won the category for best European jazz piano player under 25, in the RAI competition in Rome (1991). Having graduated from The Rhythmic Conservatory at 22, he was the first to get the top grade for his concert performance in piano, his main subject.

Nikolaj Hess has composed and arranged for solo pianists, small groups, large string ensemble, big band, choirs and saxophone quartets. He has also written music for the Danish film company Zentropa, Tju Bang Film and others; and for radio: DR, NKR, Hungarian Radio, Den Kongelige Ballet, Det Kongelige Teater, Dance companies, installations in collaborations with visual artists.

Tonight Mr. Hess leads a rhythm team made up of the bassist François Moutin and the drummer Jochen Rueckert,; their guest for this engagement is the Dutch tenor saxophonist Marc Mommaas. See you later!
