Kiddo at the Living Room/NYC

October 23, 2012

We went out for some music on a Monday night and got a great surprise in the form of the band Kiddo. As we stumbled into The Living Room on Ludlow we had no idea what to expect. The performance was fantastic with lots of catchy original songs, and one great cover of Ain’t No Sunshine, by the legendary Bill Withers.
Here’s a little more about Kiddo;
Born into a Parisian family of artists, Kiddo was immediately immersed in music, playing the guitar at 8 years of age at the Conservatoire in Paris. Her songs “Run and Hide” and “Hush Hush” (released under her real name, Anna Chalon, and featured in French movies) were acclaimed both by critics and audiences. After graduating from a prestigious law school, Kiddo left Paris to enter the London Music School. It was here where she wrote her first album in collaboration with the lyricist Marianne Groves, influenced by various artists such as B.B. King, Fleet Foxes, Amy Winehouse, Gary Moore, Norah Jones, John Mayer and Janis Joplin.
In 2011, Kiddo joined the Summer Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She now lives in New York, where she recorded her first album Where to? under the tutelage of Grammy-winning producer Jay Newland (Norah Jones, Ayo, Etta James) which will be released in fall of 2012.
They will be at The Living Room again next week. You should check them out!
In the meanwhile, here’s a video…
