REVIEW OF 4.22 AT HIGHLINE BALLROOM;
Soul Understated, featuring ‘Golden Throated’ Mavis Swan Poole and ‘Drum Master’ Jeremy Clemons, put on a great show at the Highline on Monday night, with a little help from the always sensational Stacy Dillard on Sax, and special guests Brian Jackson and Greg ‘Organ Monk’ Lewis on keyboards. They started out piping hot and rolled into some classic stuff with a cover of the Curtis Mayfield penned People Get Ready. Great background singers, awesome musical arrangements and great staging made for a really wonderful experience that induced much audience participation. The crowd was on their feet for most of the performance and the soon to be classic ‘Gonna Make It’ was a great way to close out this lively musical adventure. If you haven’t seen Soul Understated yet, make it your business to get to the very next show!
