Album Jazz: Noah Preminger-Haymaker

June 7, 2013

Safari Ltd by 27 Studios CorpNoah Preminger grew up in Canton, Connecticut. While still in high school, he studied with saxophone luminary Dave Liebman. Preminger released his debut album, Dry Bridge Road, just after graduating from the New England Conservatory of Music. The recording was a sextet session with top-line players from the New York scene: guitarist Ben Monder, pianist Frank Kimbrough, trumpeter Russ Johnson, bassist John Hébert, drummer Ted Poor.

Noah’s latest release, Haymaker, comes out swinging and can be found on Palmetto Records. This young man brings you straight ahead jazz with the integrity of a Bird or a Coltrane and incredible improvisational depth. His live performances are not to be missed. We’ve experienced him at Jazz Standard among other fine music establishments and his sets have always left us reeling and wanting more!

Haymaker brings you the stellar leadership of Mr. Preminger along with some strong support from some of the finest jazz cats on the scene today. There’s a cover of “Tomorrow” from the musical Annie that we dare you not to love and a cover of Dave Matthew’s “Don’t Drink the Water” that will make you put your glass down! The rest is all original, all the time.

Grab the album for sure, but make it your business to get out to a LIVE Noah Preminger performance ASAP!

See you soon….
