The Bruce Barth Quartet LIVE at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club TONIGHT!

July 19, 2013

barthBruce Barth, a surprising and soulful musician, is” “one of the best pianists in town, period,””says the Village Voice. In the 1990s, Barth built a sterling reputation alongside Terrence Blanchard, Nat Adderley and the great Stanley Turrentine for subtle but assured playing. His approach is the perfect match for the vibraphone master Steve Nelson who is also a frequent collaborator. Barth featured Nelson on his recording “Three Things of Beauty” which topped the jazz radio charts last year and he features him in this quartet.
Along with Steve Nelson, tonight Bruce Barth collaborates with the rhythm team of Vicente Archer (bass) and Montez Coleman (drums). At 7, 9 and 10:30 p.m., Smoke, 2751 Broadway, at 106th Street, (212) 864-6662, smokejazz.com; $38 cover.
