The Steve Kuhn Trio TONIGHT at Jazz Standard!

November 8, 2013

37049The great pianist Steve Kuhn was a 22–year–old Harvard graduate when he joined the John Coltrane Quartet for a few unforgettable months in 1960; Steve went on work with Stan Getz, Art Farmer, Oliver Nelson, Gary McFarland, Sheila Jordan, and Miroslav Vitous, to name a few.

Kuhn solidified his credentials as a leader during a period of residency in Sweden (1967–1971) when he formed a trio that toured throughout Europe. An ECM recording artist since 1974, his many fine recordings include Mostly Coltrane (2009) and Wisteria (2012).

The Steve Kuhn Trio, wrote Nate Chinen in The New York Times, is “an effortlessly modern enterprise, with roots stretching through a tangle of post–bop traditions. For any admirer of jazz piano, or articulate small–group jazz in general, it’s something that shouldn’t be missed.”

See you at the show?

Here’s the line up;
