Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival 2014!

ColtraneDesigned to evoke more than one golden age of jazz in Harlem, this festival, now in its fourth season, features music and discussion in a range of uptown spaces. Among the highlights in this closing weekend are a concert by the Vijay Iyer Trio, free with a reservation, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Aaron Davis Hall (City College, West 135th Street and Convent Avenue, Hamilton Heights); the Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, at 7 p.m. on Saturday at MIST Harlem (40 West 116th Street); and a concert by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, at 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street).
