August 5, 2014

tuckerDara Tucker is an innovative jazz singer and composer. Ms. Tucker has released these highly acclaimed studio albums; “All Right Now”, “Soul Said Yes” as well as a limited-release, live performance album, “Dara Tucker Live” in 2013. “Soul Said Yes” reached the top ten on Amazon’s R&B charts. Ms. Tucker has performed internationally with her jazz ensemble since 2009. She has shared the stage with jazz musicians such as organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, 7-string guitarist Charlie Hunter, and pianist Johnny O’Neal at The Blue Note in New York City, The San Jose Jazz Festival, Smoke Jazz and Supper Club in NYC, Sculler’s in Boston, MA, The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, and Snug Harbor in New Orleans, LA.

This all-new studio project from Dara Tucker, entitled The Sun Season, is a 10-song collection about finding the beauty in the human experience, even in hard times. She very eloquently states, “One can always find reason to be joyful and reason to celebrate, as no dark time can last always. There will always be a Sun Season.” Ms. Tucker conveys this with very well written lyrics that take you on a journey of discovery. She possesses a powerful yet soothing voice and her phrasing is nothing short of brilliant.

Produced by Greg Bryant, this album features a veritable who’s who of today’s jazz scene. Listen for top drawer talent like Peter Bernstein on Guitar, Helen Sung on Piano, Donald Edwards on Drums, John Ellis on Sax and Bass Clarinet, Alan Ferber on Trombone, and producer Greg Bryant on Bass.

Dara Tucker will be performing songs from The Sun Season LIVE at her album release show at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club at 106th and Broadway on August 20th. This promises to be a wonderful experience both musically and spiritually. Enjoy.
