September 14, 2014

large_artbandSaxophone great Jackie McLean once recalled in an interview, “When the New York police snatched my cabaret card and I couldn’t work the clubs any more the thing that saved my life was a Jackie McLean Fan Club started by Jim Harrison”. Thus began the career of one of the greatest Jazz Promoters in the business! He continues blazing new trails and still functions as the promoter of Jazz Mobile summer concerts in Harlem to this day.

Jim Harrison has promoted and produced real jazz royalty such as Kenny Durham, Elmo Hope, Eddie Jefferson, Milt Jackson, Cedar Walton, Walter Davis Jr., Betty Carter, and Dr. Billy Taylor just to name a few. “It’s been a very interesting life and a delightful journey”, says Harrison.

Join us on September 18th at Ginny’s Supper Club, as we celebrate the birthday and storied career of this music business maverick. We will have The Roni Ben-Hur Quartet and special musical guests including Richard Wyands, George Coleman, Leroy Williams, Amy London, Lisle Atkinson and many more. You never know who may show up to join the jam session so come on in! It’s going to be a great night of music at Harlem’s newest jazz venue.
