The NEA Jazz Masters Swing Broadway TONIGHT!

November 14, 2014

MI0002095700Every year the National Endowment for the Arts bestows the encomium of Jazz Master on a handful of accomplished musicians, and every year a handful of past honorees appears at Flushing Town Hall. This year’s concert features the saxophonist Jimmy Heath, the trumpeter Jimmy Owens and the pianist Barry Harris — in a band that also includes Tootie Heath, Jimmy’s younger brother, who isn’t a Jazz Master but should be. They’ll play Broadway show tunes, which shouldn’t be a stretch. At 8 p.m., 137-35 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, Queens, 718-463-7700, Ext. 222, flushingtownhall.org; $40, $32 for members, $20 for students.
